MMA CONFIDENTIAL Ashley vs Ashley @ VICTORY 111 NYC

by Bruce KiVo

The 69th Armory was a packed house at Victory 111 and “The GIRLFIGHT” was most memorable.

No, it wasn’t “ROWDY” RONDA  ROUSEY vs MIESHA “CUPCAKE” TATE… but it was damn exciting.

A great armbar was executed by a female athlete wearing leapord tights who could double for MILEY CYRUS.  Her name is ASHLEY “DOLLFACE” GREENWAY.

Previously undefeated and seemingly unstoppable, ASHLEY MILLER of KRAV MAGA  Academy NY got caught in a beautiful armbar by “Dollface” Greenway.

After throwing a heavy barrage of strikes and pushing her opponent against the cage, Miller got caught, but hung in there for what seemed like forever before tapping.  Both fighters really brought it and showed great sports”Woman”ship.  We know the very talented Ashley Miller will be back!

Ashley “Dollface” Greenway is now the VICTORY COMBAT SPORTS  Women’s Champion and looks ready for all comers. Check out some photos courtesy of Victory Combat Sports. Until next time.

Kings Of New York Amateur MMA Rocks The Hammerstein Ballroom MMA Confidential

by Bruce KiVo

It was standing room only as history was made Sat, March 23rd @ NYC’s Hammerstein Ballroom.

Featuring 13 amateur bouts including an action packed female fight and superhot ring girls,  fans

came out in droves to support  New York’s first ” sanctioned”  Mixed Martial Arts event in 11 years.

KO’s, TKO’s, Submissions….

Here’s how it went down:

Awesome opening match was 140 lb Diego Lopez submitting Jimes Casserly via real tight triangle choke round 1.

145 lb Felix Perez gets TKO, ground and pound win over Kimson round 2.

155lb devastating striker Jose Mariscal TKO’s Ethan Gomez end of round 1

135lb Abner Hernandez totally beats down Vernon Lodman round 1. Lodman takes tremendous beating. Hernandez looks gassed end of round 1.  Round 2, Hernandez repeats the beatdown from the mount.  Lodmannever tried for a sweep, has no clue what to do on the ground and and just gets pounded.  Ref stops fight and warns Abner to stop holding the cage.  Abner is just too gassed to go on and verbally submits.  Lodman was dominated totally but gets the w round 2.

155lb Next up was Team Renzo fighter  Ronmy Davila of The Bronx.  In spite of a kidney problem gets split dec win over a very game Fabian Llerena.

135lb Carlos Hernandez submits Jeff Balladares  round 3 via vicious rear naked choke. Carlos trains under the legendary Bob Shermer out of Chicago.  Just love a good submission win.

145lb  Jose Torres gets a UD dec win over Jarelle Marcalle.

110lb Women’s MMA…Krav Maga Acadamy’s  Victoria Markarova gets UD victory over Phil Dunlap’s Jodi Lynn Reicher Both girls came to bang.  At one point Jodi had a nice guillotine clamped on the Krav Maga fighter, but Victoria maintained her composure and was able to slip out. Victoria continued to dominate Jodi with takeddowns and strikes from the ground and standing.  Jodi showed a lot of heart and and fought hard till the end, but Victoria’s  arsenal was too much and earned her the Unan dec victory. As in all the previous bouts, these athletes bonded and showed true sportsmanship, or should I say sports”woman”ship after the match.

175lb Angelo Rivera wins via tko ref stoppage round 2 over Chris Miller.  Miller showed good wrestling and came out very strong round 1, but gassed.  Rivera stayed composed and the rest is history.

170lb Main Event Time  Mathew Perez came out with very aggressive attack, but the very composed Simmon Sara locked on a real nice armbar round 1.  Perez slammed him and Sara improved  the armbar even more and got the tap. Loved this fight.

Quite a few celebs were in the house including legendary MMA fighter, Shonie Carter,  MMA ‘s Seth Petruzelli who KO’d Kimbo Slice, ‘ONE Tough Cop” Bo Dietl,  Matan Gavish, Sambo Steve and Champion Boxer Mike Corleone to name a few.

Thank you Frank Babcock,  Anthony Medina,  Bob Shermer,  Renzo Gracie,  Dan “The Beast” Severn, Pat Militich, Matt Hughes and everyone else @ Fighters Source who made the event possible.

Until next time!
